Locations

Sleeping Sea offers a variety of accommodations at three separate locations. Abigail's Waterfront Home & Suites and Once in a Blue Moon Farm are located on Orcas Island. The Friday Harbor home is on San Juan Island. Please keep this in mind when choosing your accommodation. Specific directions, details, and addresses will be provided in a welcome packet after confirmation of your booking.

Getting Here

The Voyage to the Islands is as much part of your vacation as your stay here. By ferry, plane, and car, embrace and enjoy the trip. Let it last the entire day and be prepared for the unexpected. Finally relax and enjoy the ferry ride, one of the most scenic journeys in America and recently designated as a national scenic byway.

Ferry

The Washington State Ferry departs from Anacortes, located approximately 2 hours northwest of Seattle. The ferry ride itself lasts close to 1.5 hours, usually with a stop or two at another island along the way. There are multiple sailings each day, with extra sailings on the weekends. Please check the schedule for seasonal changes. While the ferry experience can't be beat, it is recommended that you arrive early to ensure boarding on the ferry of your choice. Boarding is by first come first serve and summer sailings can get quite busy, especially on weekends and holidays, so please plan accordingly. If you are walking on the ferry, it is recommended you still arrive at least 30 minutes prior to sailing. There is paid overnight and weekly parking available at the Anacortes ferry terminal. Once on the islands without a car, there are shuttle operations during the summer months and limited rental cars available.

Driving Directions from Seattle:

• Follow I-5 North to Burlington/Highway 20 exit 230 (approximate. 90 min)
• West on Highway 20 to Anacortes, continue right at roundabout onto Commercial Ave. (approx. 40 min)
• Take a left on 12th St. off of Commercial, a Safeway will be on your right. Then follow signs to the ferry terminal.

Flying

Kenmore Air offers direct flights from Seattle's Boeing Field to Eastsound and Friday Harbor. Kenmore's floatplane service departs from Lake Union to West Sound, Deer Harbor, and Rosario. San Juan Airlines provides direct flights from Anacortes and Bellingham to Eastsound and Friday Harbor airports.

Airporter Shuttle

Shuttle service from Sea-Tac airport to Anacortes ferry terminal is available from Bellair Charters. There are multiple shuttles daily. Reservations are recommended.

Train

Amtrak provides daily train service from Seattle's King Street Station to Mt. Vernon. A shuttle can be arranged to transfer to the ferry terminal when booking.

Victoria Clipper

The Victoria Clipper sails from Seattle's Pier 69 seasonally to Friday Harbor only.
